Sam is happy in his group home. He has friendly housemates and caring staff. Because of cerebral palsy, Sam needs help getting dressed and eating his meals. With the use of his iPad for communication and a wheelchair to get around, Sam is in charge of his life. And he has dreams.

Suddenly, everything changes. Sam’s older brother barges into his room for the first time in ten years. Nick is in big trouble. He thinks Sam’s trust money can fix his problems. Nick is Sam’s legal guardian. He abuses the power to move Sam seven hundred miles away from his home.

Sam can’t talk or move on his own. He is trapped! Sam struggles to get control of his life. Neighbors, social workers, old friends, and the court system get involved. They all take sides.

Will Sam ever see his home again?

About the Author

Elisabeth Felten is an associate professor of business at DeSales University. She is the founder of a post-secondary academic program for adults with intellectual disabilities and autism. Her interest in writing books for adults with low literacy started when she couldn’t find appropriate books for her students and summer book club. Elisabeth is currently pursuing an MFA in creative writing.
